As we know, COF = IC Chip stick on the flex cable.
So on the appearance of this COF P30Lite, we can see the IC chip is on the flex clearly, so most of the people would just check it by appearance , but dont know the exact different between COF and COG.

The key point is more about “Gas Gauge chip” and “Lithium protection chip” and “Internal resistance chip”..

These three chips need to cooperate well at the together to ensure that the battery has good metering effect/temperature control effect when in daily using.

The “gas gauge chip” is mainly responsible for calculating the battery’s power, ensuring that the battery automatically learns and ensures that the power is correct,the “lithium protection Chip” uses the calculation of the “gas gauge chip” to control battery temperature and protection when battery is charging ,there is also an “internal resistance chip” to control and reduce the power of the battery, otherwise the sampling current accuracy will become worse，it is known that Apple’s original protective board uses a 1 milliohm high-precision resistor.

Through these two pictures, we have a rough understanding of the two methods of replacing the battery. But to give you a deeper understanding, here are the advantages and disadvantages of new technology battery compared to spot welding battery.

New Technology Battery:

Advantage

1. No spot welding is required, no professional welding equipment or personnel is required, only scissors arency needed, very high efficiency.

2.The new BMS is accurately measuredand can fully use all the capacity of the battery core.

3.Real battery health, not fake data.

Disadvantage

Due to the relatively complex process, the cost of this battery will be higher than battery cell + spot-welding(attery cell spot-welding,there only the cost of battery cells).

 

Spot Welding Battery:

Advantage

1.Lower cost needs. (The cost only battery cell withou BMS flex)

Disadvantage

1.Require spot-welding machine.

2.Require some phone repair experienced .

3.The capacity may not fully use if Older original BMS is over times used.(This will be explained in detail below.)

   As far as we know , Apple double-encrypts the chips in its models, the underlying data cannot be written. For models below IPhone 11, We can directly modify the underlying code to match the battery cell, and it also dismiss the non-original message.

This is why when the battery exceeds the number of charges, the voltage will be limited.(This will be explained in detail below.)

Data Information:
For example,

IP11/12 series standard limit voltage is 4.45V.

IP13/14 series standard limit voltage is 4.47V.

 

When the charging times and battery cycles times reaches to a number , like 300 times, 500 times, 1000 times,the battery BMS will forcibly reduce the fully charged voltage to prevent battery damage due to overcharging.

(that’s the reason why apple will remind us to change a new battery when the battery healthy is lower than 80%)

 

So when the battery old original BMS have already over-used in the last battery,it’ll limit the actual usage capacity of new battery cell to varying degrees.

 

When the older original BMS flex charging times more than 300 times , capacity loss is around 7%

When the older original BMS flex charging times more than 1000 times, Capacity loss is around 13%

New Technology Battery: The old BMS is only used for booting and does not directly participate in the work. The data is all operated by the new BMS with a cycle count of 0, so it can use the full battery cell capacity.

  Because on original program Tl 7037 for lP11-14Promax battery, the capacity date can not be changed due to Apple is locked, so we can only see 100% capacity on 3u tools, but it does not affect the battery release of the full  capacity of the battery, it can easily and gradually increase in daily using ,the actual capacity is more than 110%
